World War One Words Starting With the Letter O
On your own - At liberty. Your time is your own.
Out or over there - Somewhere in France.
Over the Top - to go over the top meant to climb over the top of one's own trenches into no-man's land in order to attack the opposing side's trenches. A soldier's chances of surviving such an attack were low as most attackers were killed or wounded by machine gun fire coming from the opposing side's trenches.
