World War One Words Starting With the Letter Q
Q Ship - a decoy ship used by the allies to fight German U-boats. Q ships were disguised as unarmed merchant vessels in the hope that a U Boat would surface and attack them with its deck gun rather than waste its torpedoes. Once surfaced, the submarine would be attacked by the Q Ship which was in fact an armed warship.
